Do you take walk-ins or do I need to book?
Walk-ins are welcome whenever we have a chair free, and we love saying yes on the spot. That said, weekends and late afternoons fill up fast, so if your heart is set on a certain time we really recommend booking ahead. You can book online any time through our booking page, or give us a call and we will sort you out.
How long does a gel manicure last?
Most clients get two to three weeks of glossy, chip-free wear from a gel manicure, and often longer if your nails are on the stronger side. How long it lasts comes down to your nail growth and how gentle you are with your hands. A little cuticle oil each day and gloves for the dishes go a long way.
What is the difference between gel, acrylic and builder gel?
Gel polish is a colour coat cured under a lamp for a hard, shiny finish on your natural nail. Acrylic builds length and strength using a powder and liquid, ideal if you want a full set or extra durability. Builder gel sits somewhere in between, adding strength and a little length with a lighter, more flexible feel. Not sure which suits you? How should I prepare for my appointment?
Come with clean hands and, if you can, a rough idea of the look you are after. Screenshots and saved pictures are honestly the best way to show us what you love. If you are wearing old polish or a previous set, no need to remove it yourself, we will take care of that for you. Arriving a few minutes early means you get to relax before we start.
Can you do custom nail art?
Yes, custom nail art is our favourite part of the job. We do fine-line hand-drawn designs, chrome and mirror finishes, ombre, French with a twist, charms, gems and seasonal one-offs. Bring a picture or a colour you love and we will make it yours. Detailed art is priced per nail so you only pay for the fingers you want done.
How do I care for my nails between visits?
The single best habit is a drop of cuticle oil rubbed in morning and night, which keeps the polish flexible and your skin healthy. Wear gloves for cleaning and gardening, and try not to use your nails as tools to open things. If a nail lifts or chips, book in for a quick fix rather than picking at it, which protects your natural nail underneath.
Do you offer lash and brow services too?
We do. Alongside nails we offer lash lifting and tinting, brow shaping and tinting, and a full set of eyelash extensions. It is an easy add-on to a nail appointment if you want to freshen everything up in one relaxed visit. Just mention it when you book so we can leave enough time.
Where are you and is there parking?
You will find us at 20 Westgate Drive in Westgate, Auckland, right in the heart of the shopping precinct. There is loads of parking across the road, so it is an easy in and out even on a busy Saturday. Look for the gold Golden Nails sign and come on in.
